| Mr.
Jkub was signed onto the Lions Gate Films Armada Pictures
/ City Lights Pictures Film “Tamara” Soundtrack,
that will be distributed world wide. It was a little bit of
Luck, a lot of hard work that landed him the opportunity when
one of the actresses came across his myspace music page.
“They actually emailed me and asked me for my track “STFU”,
but the guy who produced the music for me was on Hiatus. I
didn’t really take it too seriously, because I had been
asked 2 months earlier if I would like to have that same track
in a different Movie. Nothing ever came of it, so I kind of
expected the same thing.
Next thing I know I have snail mail from Hollywood, California,
and paperwork asking me to submit to them music. So I did.
I sent them the demo version of Don’t Panic Babe, and
STFU. Weeks later I get a call, and they want BOTH! I was
shocked! It was then I had to tell them I couldn’t secure
the rights to STFU, because we could not locate the other
party involved in the song. I was crushed about it. I was
angry too.
I started to do my own thing, so that I wouldn’t have
to rely on people showing up to practice, and taking things
as seriously as I do. I had landed right back in the same
spot I was before, and it was on accident. I was surprised
when they replied to me with “What else have you got?”
I said I have plenty others, but took a chance, and submitted
them a song, that I had just wrote called “Closer”,
that appeared on the charts here, but I think it only hit
number 15. They snatched it right up, and put that track in
the film as well.
So in total I have 2 songs played 3 times. They play the
Demo version of “Don’t Panic” in a lengthy
scene, and then "Closer" is in a brief seen right
after it.
The big thing for me was they decided to put the “Album
Version” of “Don’t Panic” first song
in the credits. In the screener versions that played in New
York’s Horror Festival, it was the only song in the
credits. The movie is set to Open in Late November early December
in New York, and L.A., and then move to select cities thereafter.
Still no word on the release date of the soundtrack, but
at this point I am just happy to be involved, to have made
a little bit of money, and added this to my body of work.”
So this is hopefully the first of many personal success stories
to tell my kids. :)
Oh yeah, and the story continues, when all of the contracts
were finished up, we did finally find the other party involved
in “STFU”, and secured the license for the future,
so hopefully down the road that will end up in another film.
Perhaps it will end up in the film I am writing for right
now, that came to me as a direct result of this first film.

| Former MP3Songs 'Featured Artist',
the talented Annie
Minogue, tells us more about her rising music career:
"My previous album 'HOME' was released on the
Nippon Crown label in Japan. My material has appeared
on MTV's Real World, MSNBC, the Japanese
news and in the independent feature 'Out of the Black'.
Songs from my latest release 'Love Parade' are being
considered for inclusion on the television shows 'Smallville'
and 'Alias'.
I had a very busy touring year in 2001 playing several high
profile festivals. Some of the biggest among them were the
Summerfest Music Festival, Viper Ball, Texas
State Fair and Guinness Music Festival. In the
past I've opened for Shawn Mullins, The Cowboy Junkies,
Shane MacGowan and Dave Navarro. This year I'm
scheduled to open for Jewel & Lifehouse. I also was
last year’s recipient of the National Artist of the Year
Award at the LA Music Awards." |

Gary hays, too country????
I'm a country artist/songwriter from Nashville, TN. I'm originally
from Florida and my roots are pure country. With the influence
of "pop" and other genres mixing with country music (not that
that's a bad thing) I've been told by some American labels
that they love my music but I'm "Too Country"! Never thought
I'd hear that I'd hear that in Nashville.
I started posting my material on the web everywhere that
would let me. I'm now receiving emails from European radio
stations (Belgium, Sweden, France) requesting a promo copy
of my CD for airplay. They all say they are pleased to hear
the "country" being put back in country music. Because of
all this, I now have a song (The Wrecking Crew) being released
independently in Europe and am planning a tour of Norway in
the spring. Thank you to everyone that has listened to my
material and been kind enough to respond positively. |

| After 7 years of using my talents
in positive ways, (Holy Hip-Hop Ministry), I was diagnosed
by a doctor to have a tumor in my throat. As it would turn
out, this blockage was unable to be removed without removing
my voice box, (not gonna happen), and three operations later,
I had the pleasure of hearing the surgeon say "You'll never
sing again" to my face. He also gave me all the reasons why
and on top of that, I had a trache tube inserted into my neck.
But my faith in God is too strong to accept man's facts over
God's truth and so by faith, I continued to sing and rap and
in Dec. 1998, I made my first EP "Invasion of the Soulsnatcha.
Three and half years later I recorded "K.J.V. STYLE", then
I recorded "Medical Miracle-Spiritually Lyrical", and most
recently, "GOSPELHIPHOPCAPPELLA : Beat Box Series Vol. #1.
So just remember those who read this. If a man with 70% blockage
in his airway, a trache tube in his neck and bad reports from
his doctor can record an EP and 3 Full Length projects, you
have no excuse to be sitting around wasting your abilities,
fearful and timid. If you do your best, you are the "Best".
Why do I say that? Simple. There is no one else like you,
therefore no one else can be a better "you" than "you". Stay
encouraged, stay strong, stay focussed and most importantly
seek God! Pro. 3: 5,6 |

Soulpower - doing it all themselves
Just 3 years ago we were 2 struggling musicians in different
continents but now thanks to the power of the internet we
are a duo with a big and growing following and a very bright
future to look forward to both musically and personally. After
hearing eachothers music on MP3.com in 2001 we decided to
do an internet collaboration with myself playing all the instruments
and producing the tracks and Anni singing. As our relationship
grew through doing this we decided to meet in person and now
in 2004 we are married with a son.
This has not halted things musically though....far from it.
We are now firmly established on the internet with a host
of chart successes for our songs and a very popular official
website http://www.soulpowermusic.com
which we also use to promote other independent artists and
music communities. We do all performing, arranging, recording,
producing and promotion for our music ourselves aswell as
having a distribution deal in the USA with Hollwood label
Statue Records. We are due to release our debut album 'Roots
and Wings' in March/April 2004 and there is huge expectancy
around it from many people. It's thanks to technology and
independent promotion sites like this one that we have got
to where we are today and the future holds a lot of excitement
for us and our music." |

Glastonbury Festival 2 Years
in a Row
This year and last I was booked as compere for the Avalon Main
stage at Glastonbury and as a perfomer for the Avalon Cafe stage,
and this led on to It's Jo and Danny's Green Man Festival at
Craig y Nos Castle in Brecon (http://www.thegreenmanfestival.co.uk/itinerary.html)
in August, where again I was MC for the main stage and playing
a set of my music!
So how did I get to play Glastonbury? Well, I have done before
several times so I had contacts there and originally this happened
because I was working some years ago as Robin (of Incredible
String Band fame) Williamson 's secretary and I mailed the guy
who had booked Robin at the time. The next time I got to play
there was via another contact: author CJ.Stone (http://www.cjstone.co.uk).
CJ has written about me in 4 of his books to date including
'Last of the Hippies' (Faber) and his landlady when this was
due to be published happened to be working at Glastonbury Festival
and in charge of booking acts. CJ put me in touch and I mailed
her a copy of my album.
So, yes, the contacts have been of vital importance, and the
idea of it's who you know, is correct and has been my key to
getting to play there, but it has also been my sheer determination
and persistence each year. I have mailed everyone I know there,
I have sent in CDs, I have e-mailed every stage manager that
might accept me for their stage and I have not given up trying
and this year I didn't know for sure until April!
There's a full report on the festival at my site here: http://www.bardofely.com
and I'd just like to add that my fave act for the entire weekend
was Arthur 'God of Hellfire' Brown who gave the most amazing
and energetic performance. I got to chat to Arthur backstage
afterwards and was surprised to discover that he once used to
live in my home town of Cardiff, many years ago when he was
younger and in a choir of all things!

Red
Square: When we set out on the long road to getting
heard in the world, we never expected to make so many friends,
not only from the UK, but also from as
far as America, Canada, Sweden, etcetc.
From our cramped bedsit in the centre of Bristol, UK, we
have gone from
producing music for our own pleasure, to producing music for
the masses
(well, they're masses to us!), on several different web sites.
Although
we still have a lot to learn, we have reached no.1 spots several
times
in different genres, and had our tracks listened to by more
people than
we first envisaged.
The plus for us, is that we are now getting the chance to
work with
other people all over the world via the Internet, and producing
memorable tracks for future use as demos.
How did we do it? Sheer determination, supporting other people,
and the
Internet!

| CD Production of the Year
in Germany - Darrell
Arnold and the Dead Buffaloes! The German Pop and
Rock Musician's Association awarded Darrell Arnold and the
Dead Buffaloes' newest release the prize for "CD Production
of the Year - 2002". This is from Germany's most prestigious
organization of its sort, giving awards for independent musicians.
Cuts from Everyday Stories have been featured on BFBS
programs "Passion for Plastic" and "Sims".
The band has also recently done interviews with the CD on
WDR2 Radio in Germany and Radio Bielefeld.
WDR TV also recently did a feature story about the
band.
Darrell Arnold and the Dead Buffaloes are combining
traditional promotional methods and online promotion. Along
with taking radio and TV promotion into their own hands, and
playing lots of gigs, they are also busy online. Their song,
Case 1327, was number 1 for two weeks at MP3Songs.
They have been the featured band at indielaunch.com
and javamusic.com. Their song Sadness is also
on the runners-up list at Tonos for September, 2002.
Other successes of the year include opening gigs for Eric
Burdon and The Yardbirds, a showcase performance
at the Hard Rock Cafe, Boston, during the NEMO conference,
a slot position playing at Popkomm for javamusic.com
and the inclusion of songs on the NEMO sampler and the German
sampler, Stars in Sight. They will be touring with
The Yardbirds in Germany once again next year. |

Rodd

Micky Land of Shattered-Dreams Music Magazine said "If
you feel like chilling out, Rodd P. music is exactly what
you're looking for.
Perfectly recorded, ambient stuff like it has to be when you
sit down at this classy bar taking life as it goes... I can't
really tell you which tune I like the most because they are
kind of being part of a whole entity. The ONLY downside ?
We want more than the four tracks available through his website"

| Former MP3Songs Chart band Imaginary
Bill shared this story with us:
"The song 'Bottom Feeder', from Imaginary bill's debut
album has been selected to be placed in the upcoming season
of MTV's Road Rules. Here's the story from Tonos'
newsletter: "Tonos is pleased to announce that two separate
members, Sean Dailey and Imaginary bill, are getting their
songs placed in the upcoming season of the hit MTV series,
Road Rules, proving that you never know when your Industry
Opportunity submissions are going to pay off.
The submission period for this one ended last November! Here's
what Mark Burgoyne, a Music Supervisor for Bunim-Murray
Productions, which does MTV's Road Rules and Real World,
told us a few weeks ago: "I was amazed at the great musicians
and talent on Tonos and what a good job that Tonos A&R does
in filtering out the best material. I know how difficult and
lengthy of a job that can be. I've worked with other A&R services
before and Tonos is one of the best. I look forward to be
working with Tonos again, soon!!"" |

New
York band Mothers
Favorite Child told us: "The other day
in New York city Tanya Thillet (mfc vocalist) was in the record
store Century Twenty One in New York City. She was shopping
for music and to her surprise our song "Stained In My Skin"
starting playing over the speakers throughout the store. She
spoke with a store representative, who informed Tanya that they
choose songs that they think best represents the 'mood' of the
store, and stream them live for the customers. I think that
this is just another reason why the internet is so helpful to
indie artists. Without the internet and this store, the customers
in it may have never heard Mothers Favorite Child. I am also
proud to announce that Mothers Favorite Child is on it's way
to reaching 100,000 downloads on mp3.com. This, to indie artists,
is like reaching platinum." |

| Another former MP3Songs
chart band AutoCad
write:
"I was just getting started with electronic music, and
had created 2 'Live 365.com'' stations, based on fractals,
math and nature. I posted an ad for these stations on the
BB there at 'Live 365.com'. One of their employees was so
intrigued that she featured both stations the next month at
Live 365.com. Belive it or not, during that month, "Spin"
Magazine was touring the internet looking for internet radio
shows to feature-- and guess who got featured there-- we did!
